Need some help to get started on your idea or project to improve Launceston? Or just want to connect with other positive people around Australia?

Town Team Movement is a growing non-profit organisation that helps local people and local governments to create stronger communities and better places. It isn’t easy – it takes some hard work. But you can achieve a lot, just by having a go.

We’ve created a Town Team Hub, which has How To Guides, resources and tips to help you get started. It is free for community members and town teams to access, but other organisations, including local governments, can access the Resource Hub for $250 + GST per annum for unlimited access.

Town Teams are positive and proactive organisations that include businesses, landowners and residents working collaboratively with their local government to improve a place or area, often a town centre or ‘main street’. Town Teams are ‘doers’. They:

  • Provide vision and leadership for their place
  • Are positive and proactive
  • Are apolitical in their approach
  • Get stuck in and have a go rather than waiting for “someone else” to do “something”
  • Independent from governments
  • Run by the community for the community

Each team has different priorities and focuses, but all share this common approach, which is outlined in the Town Team Charter. Town teams are catalysts for change in their local area.
